It was a cold day in Ohio in March 2020 at Trumbull Medical Center. Aspin was in the middle of his surgery rotation while Nirali was just starting, and for Aspin it was love at first sight. For Nirali, well... she swears she doesn't remember seeing him that first day. Fast forward a week and Aspin wanted to get to know Nirali, however she got Covid and so interactions were limited through a phone. After months of texting, facetiming, and finally hanging out in person they were able to make it official. The couple started dating on May 30th, 2020.

After 2 years together, Aspin and Nirali had to start long distance because of residency. During their first year apart, the couple planned a vacation to California to see San Francisco, Napa Valley, and Yosemite. Nirali had a feeling Aspin was going to propose on this trip, so much so she was already telling all her friends about it (most of whom already knew). Aspin had planned out the week down to every little detail, incorporating their love for sightseeing, eating and hiking. On October 4th, 2022, Aspin had planned to visit the Sutro Baths at the beach followed by a day trip to Napa Valley. On the morning of the proposal, luck was not on Aspin's side. Nirali was already in a bad mood because their airbnb's hot water stopped working and San Francisco was freezing! Simply put, Nirali was NOT in the mood to go the beach that morning. "Why can't we just go straight to Napa. We can see the Baths later!" was what Nirali kept saying, but Aspin was adamant they had to go. They arrived to an empty beach, but that created the perfect ambiance for a romantic proposal. As soon as the couple walked down the steps, Nirali's whole mood lightened as she knew what came next.

Due to long distance, the couple's timeline is a bit unique. They wanted to get married, but having the big fat Indian wedding right away was not feasible with their work schedules. Rather than having a two year long engagement, Aspin and Nirali decide to get legally married. Initially, the plan was for a simple court house marriage, but in the end this turned into an intimate ceremony at the Mandir with their parents and siblings by their side on April 8th, 2023!
